How the Brain to Body System Provides Chronic Pain Relief in Dewalt, TX

To reverse chronic pain and/or nerve disease, areas of the body that have become weak due to disease or injury must be strengthened. This includes your brain, nerves, muscles, blood vessels, and cells. Our experts here at Texas Nerve and Spine developed the most advanced pain and nerve therapy system to do all of this and more, and we call it the Brain to Body System.

From fibromyalgia and disc herniations to diabetic neuropathy and sciatica, our Brain to Body System helps restore your health and corrects the causes of your problems. Unlike treatments from other nerve and spine clinics, our system provides long-term relief without relying on invasive surgeries or dangerously addictive pharmaceutical medications.

To understand how our Brain to Body System solves chronic pain and similar conditions like nerve disease, you need a basic knowledge of the conditions themselves. That way, you can understand why so many who suffer from them rarely improve.

Chronic Pain

Chronic Pain

This is a type of pain that does not get better on its own or that doesn't alleviate after traditional medical treatments or prescription pain meds.

Nerve Disease

Nerve Disease

This is a type of pain that does not get better on its own or that doesn't alleviate after traditional medical treatments or prescription pain meds.

Chronic pain from nerve diseases and serious injuries causes a domino effect within your body. It starts with inflammation, which leads to decreased blood supply. This reduced blood supply results in a lack of oxygen. When your body doesn't get enough oxygen, it loses crucial nutrients that your body needs. This progressive effect often leads to long-term problems such as:

  • Chronic Pain
  • Motor-Function Loss
  • Loss of Sensation
  • Muscular Atrophy
  • Loss of Movement
  • Depression

But with Texas Nerve and Spine's Brain to Body system, patients suffering from chronic pain and nerve disease build strength through rehabilitation. This advanced system helps:

  • Stimulate New Nerve Pathways
  • Strengthen and Grow Muscles
  • Promotes Cellular Repair
  • Improves Circulation and Blood Flow

Our Brain to Body System is central to our approach to chronic musculoskeletal pain relief and chronic nerve pain relief in Dewalt, TX. By following the Brain to Body system, we can provide several services to patients suffering from chronic pain and nerve damage.

EWOT:Exercise with Oxygen Therapy

Here's a fact you might not know: Breathing in higher levels of oxygen than you normally take in actually helps improve your health. Also called EWOT, exercising with oxygen is a technique that increases oxygen circulation at a much more rapid pace than oxygen therapy alone. Create New Blood Cells

How Does EWOT Work?

At Texas Nerve and Spine, our doctors use the NuStep Recumbent Cross Trainer to help achieve the aforementioned benefits. This specialized machine trains your muscles, brain, and nerves to work together, which supports your body's healing processes. While using the NuStep Recumbent Cross Trainer, patients are hooked up to an oxygen generator to enjoy the benefits of EWOT and reach their chronic pain relief goals.

When you oxygenate your blood with EWOT, it can have amazing benefits that can:

  • Restore Blood Flow
  • Improve Oxygen Circulation
  • Reduce Inflammation
  • Boost Energy
  • Increase Strength

In fact, it is FDA-approved and backed by more than 2,500 research studies, which have demonstrated its efficacy in chronic musculoskeletal pain relief in Dewalt, TX.

TherapyMotor Function Re-Training Therapy

When your motor functions are limited or non-existent due to a serious injury or surgery, it can ruin your life. You lose the ability to be independent - one of the hallmarks of being human. Fortunately, with motor function re-training at Texas Nerve and Spine, patients suffering from motor function issues have a light at the end of the tunnel. This type of specialized physical therapy helps people recover from injuries or surgeries that leave their motor functions lacking. The goal of motor function re-training is to regain coordination and strength in the areas affecting the patient.

Motor function re-training therapy is a crucial part of the motor function rehabilitation process because it helps patients regain the independence they lost. Perhaps equally important, it also helps them return to their original level of motor function or better.

 Herniated Disc Specialist Dewalt, TX

How Does Motor Function Re-Training Work?

Based on our Brain to Body system, our specialists design custom exercise programs based on our patient's motor function needs. Depending on the type of injury and lack of motor skills associated with it, we may also use electrical stimulation and other modalities for more effective treatment and recovery.

Motor function re-training provides many benefits for affected patients, including:

  • Improved Flexibility
  • More Strength
  • Better Range of Motion
  • Re-Claim Independence
  • Live a Normal Life

ReleaseMyofascial Release Therapy

Myofascial Release therapy gives patients chronic pain relief in Dewalt, TX, and boosts joint mobility by loosening up restricted, tight muscles. Though there are similarities to traditional massages, myofascial release therapy focuses on soft tissues and the muscular system in your body to relieve tension and stress on muscles.

How Does Myofascial Release Therapy Work?

Restricted muscles have reduced blood flow and less oxygen. When this happens, it leads to limited movement and pain that is often intense. Our program uses state-of-the-art technology to apply acute, high-velocity vibration directly to the affected tissue to provide the patient with the environment necessary to increase mobility which, over time, can exponentially reduce pain

Benefits of this type of treatment include:

  • Improved Tissue Recovery
  • Reduced Soreness
  • Improved Joint Range of Motion
  • Improved Blood Flow
  • Better Neuromuscular Efficiency

To improve cognition and the neurological connection between the brain, the muscles, and the nerves, some injured patients choose to undergo interactive neurocognitive therapy using our neuro activation wall. Our neuro activation wall retains, strengthens, and restores proper function to the brain and nervous system without relying on medications or outlandish therapies.

Texas Nerve and Spine patients choose neuro activation wall therapy because it:

  • Improves Cognition

  • Boosts Balance and Mobility
  • Is Non-Invasive

TherapyNeuro Impulse Therapy

As is the case with any spinal cord injury, the nerves around the spine get weak. When this happens, pain develops, and recovery is halted. Suppose you're searching for a safe, effective way to deal with a painful spine issue like sciatica or a herniated disc. In that case, neuro impulse therapy is a great chronic nerve pain treatment in Dewalt, TX. Unlike common chiropractic treatments, this advanced therapy does not involve any "cracking" or significant adjustments.

How Does Neuro Impulse Therapy Work?

Neuro Impulse Therapy works by using very specific impulses directed at the area causing pain. These targeted impulses send a signal to your body so that it can begin healing and repairing your body naturally. Benefits of this therapy include:

  • Re-Training Nerves to Work Again
  • Strengthen Nerves
  • Dramatically Speed Up Injury Recovery
  • Quickly Reduces Pain

PeripheralNeuropathy Rehabilitation

Peripheral neuropathy occurs when there is a lack of blood flow to the nerves in areas like your feet and hands. When these nerves are devoid of blood, they begin to decay and degenerate because they don't have enough oxygen or nutrients. Eventually, the nerves in your body shrivel up, causing pain, numbness, balance problems, and other painful symptoms.

How Does Peripheral Neuropathy Rehabilitation Work?

Our Brain to Body program works wonders for neuropathy issues like these by using state-of-the-art technology like laser therapy and personalized, strategic plans of action created around our patient's needs. If you're looking for both short and long-term pain relief from peripheral neuropathy, this could be the solution you need.

 Neuropathy Dewalt, TX

TherapySpinal Decompression Therapy

Spinal conditions range in severity from barely noticeable to absolutely crippling. To get to the bottom of your spine conditions, our team uses X-Rays to pinpoint the location of your spine's disease. From there, we craft a custom rehabilitation program that addresses the underlying causes of your spine pain. Often, part of that therapy includes spinal decompression.

Pain Specialist Dewalt, TX

How Does Spinal Decompression Therapy Work?

Spinal decompression works by gently stretching the spine. When the spine is stretched, it changes its position. This change relieves pressure off the discs in your spine, which act as cushions in your back. By creating negative pressure, herniated and bulging discs retract, giving the nerves and structures in your back relief. This relief sends nutrient-rich fluids and oxygen to the discs in your back so they can heal properly.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The UIL District 29-5A high school track and field meet ended on Thursday with Flour Bluff boys and Gregory-Portland girls taking the team titles at Flour Bluff High School's Hornet Stadium.

One of the faster district runners was junior Zachary Dewalt from Flour Bluff. He won the 100 meters in 10.8, helped the Hornets in the relays and finished third in long jump with a distance of 21-feet 3.5 inches. Dewalt battled back from a season-ending hamstring injury he suffered at the district meet last year.

"Started off a little rough. Had to get my way back into the season, and took me a while to get here. I'm doing real good right now, and excited to be back. It feels great," Zachary Dewalt, Flour Bluff sprinter, said. "Last year I was able to win district, but I had to cut my season a little short. This year just feels good to be where I'm at right now."

The top four finishers advance to the 5A Area meet that will take place again at Flour Bluff next week. For UIL District 29-5A meet results click here.

Two Houston-based accelerator programs announced new entrepreneur cohorts at the end of March and beginning of April.

DivInc Houston, an arm of Austin-based nonprofit DivInc, launched its Clean Energy Tech Accelerator program in partnership with Chevron Corp. (NYSE: CVX) and Microsoft Corp. (Nasdaq: MSFT) targeting startups created by women and people of color. Seven companies will participate in a 12-week program hosted at the Ion.

The cohort includes two Houston startups and one based out of Austin, with the rest coming from across the country:

DivInc Houston Managing Director Ashley DeWalt told the Houston Business Journal that leveraging subject matter experts from partners such as Microsoft and Chevron helped draw in founders from around the country.

“We're having real-time conversations with [our partners] on a weekly basis to continue to level up our program,” DeWalt said. “That’s critical to these founders, and that’s why we can attract them from around the country.

Pirl Technology founder Kobby Osei-Tutu said the opportunity to connect with other minority founders in clean tech drew him to DivInc.

“When I go around and meet other founders, there are just a number of underrepresented founders in clean tech,” Osei-Tutu said. “But there’s very few of them. What attracts me to DivInc is the chance to sort of learn from the horizontal level, from founder to founder, from people I love to be around.”

DivInc’s cohort follows the reveal of 14 companies participating in the Softeq Venture Studio accelerator program, run by Houston-based Softeq Development Corp. Unlike the DivInc program, this technology accelerator is industry agnostic and the cohort includes companies specializing in applications ranging from data intelligence and robotics.

Five Houston startups and one Austin startup were named in the cohort. The companies participating in Softeq’s accelerators are as follows:

Like DeWalt, Softeq CEO Chris Howard touted the cohort’s reach outside of Houston, with over 23 of 89 Softeq Venture Studio-affiliated founders coming to the Bayou City.

Softeq’s program runs for three months from April, according to its announcement.

Several Houston-based accelerators have announced their 2023 cohorts earlier this year, including the Texas Medical Center’s two TMCi cohorts in January and Greentown Labs’ ACCEL cohort in February.

SAN MARCOS — Senior setter Emily DeWalt is no stranger to conference accolades. She's the Sun Belt's all-time leader with 18 conference setter of the week awards and its first four-time setter of the year, and she was its freshman of the year back in 2018.

But now DeWalt has an award that neither she nor any other player in Bobcats history had won. She was named the Sun Belt's player of the year Wednesday.

“We got pretty emotional today talking about (DeWalt), because, two months ago, we were sitting in the office talking about whether she was going to play or not,” Bobcats volleyball coach Sean Huiet said in a statement. “For her to play through the type of injury she has and maintain this type of level of play on the court, it says so much about who she is.

"For her to be recognized as not only the Setter of the Year for the fourth time in a row, which is huge, but I really think she’s one of if not the best player in our conference. So, for all the other coaches to give her that award, I think everyone can understand why we were emotional about that today. She’s battled a lot this season, so for her to get these awards, it was a really special moment.”

DeWalt wasn't alone on the conference podium. Senior outside hitter Janell Fitzgerald earned Sun Belt offensive player of the year honors, both were named to the first-team all-conference squad, and middle blocker Tyeranne Scott and outside hitter Jada Gardner were on the second team.

DeWalt and Fitzgerald have led the Bobcats to three consecutive Sun Belt championships and will begin the pursuit of a fourth this weekend riding a 12-match winning streak into the conference tournament. Texas State was scheduled to open with Troy on Friday; the Bobcats beat the Trojans 3-1 in their lone matchup Sept. 24.

Basketball: The women’s team is 2-1 after a pair of double-digit wins this week. The men (1-2) dropped two road games by double digits last weekend.

The women started the week with an 82-48 win over Huston-Tillotson and followed that with a 76-62 win at UTSA. The men lost twice to SEC opponents — 84-59 to LSU and 79-60 to Vanderbilt.

The women are off until Monday, when they will play at Texas Tech; the men are playing in the Good Sam Empire Classic.

For owner Lindsey DeWalt, the best part about being a part owner of Keller Tavern is it feels like a second home.

“You can always walk in and there’s someone here. It’s a neighborhood place where people take care of each other,” DeWalt said.

Along with her husband, David DeWalt, and friend Cary Moon, the three bought the building in October 2011.

“It’s been a private home and also an insurance agency before we bought it,” DeWalt said.

Being a neighborhood place, Keller Tavern has a core group of customers that show up nearly every day.

“During the day and for happy hour, we have a crowd of regulars,” DeWalt said. “Our bartenders can see them walk up through the window and will have their drink waiting for them by the time they reach the bar.”

Other regulars include the staff members, according to the owner.

“Our staff stays really consistent. Most of our kitchen staff has been with us since the beginning and are mostly from the same family,” DeWalt said.

She said that her employees tend to stay for a long time for one big reason.

“Our staff members take care of our customers, and our customers take care of our staff members,” she said. “It’s like everyone’s a part of the family.”

The menu has only changed four times in the 12 years Keller Tavern been open. The Tavern Buffalo bites is a signature item that has been a staple on the menu since day one, according to DeWalt. So have the charro beans that Bertha, the head cook, churns out as a side item or as an item by themselves upon request. DeWalt and her crew also serve up other Mexican food favorites as part of their eclectic menu.

“Street tacos are new [to our menu] and are very popular. Bertha also makes homemade tamales every Tuesday that are a huge hit,” DeWalt said.

Keller Tavern has plenty of capacity, events and activities to keep everyone entertained, DeWalt said. It has an outdoor patio that can fit up to 100 people where they have live music. It has open mic on Sunday nights, music bingo on Monday nights and on Tuesday nights it hosts trivia.
