How the Brain to Body System Provides Chronic Pain Relief in Cinco Ranch, TX

To reverse chronic pain and/or nerve disease, areas of the body that have become weak due to disease or injury must be strengthened. This includes your brain, nerves, muscles, blood vessels, and cells. Our experts here at Texas Nerve and Spine developed the most advanced pain and nerve therapy system to do all of this and more, and we call it the Brain to Body System.

From fibromyalgia and disc herniations to diabetic neuropathy and sciatica, our Brain to Body System helps restore your health and corrects the causes of your problems. Unlike treatments from other nerve and spine clinics, our system provides long-term relief without relying on invasive surgeries or dangerously addictive pharmaceutical medications.

To understand how our Brain to Body System solves chronic pain and similar conditions like nerve disease, you need a basic knowledge of the conditions themselves. That way, you can understand why so many who suffer from them rarely improve.

Chronic Pain

Chronic Pain

This is a type of pain that does not get better on its own or that doesn't alleviate after traditional medical treatments or prescription pain meds.

Nerve Disease

Nerve Disease

This is a type of pain that does not get better on its own or that doesn't alleviate after traditional medical treatments or prescription pain meds.

Chronic pain from nerve diseases and serious injuries causes a domino effect within your body. It starts with inflammation, which leads to decreased blood supply. This reduced blood supply results in a lack of oxygen. When your body doesn't get enough oxygen, it loses crucial nutrients that your body needs. This progressive effect often leads to long-term problems such as:

  • Chronic Pain
  • Motor-Function Loss
  • Loss of Sensation
  • Muscular Atrophy
  • Loss of Movement
  • Depression

But with Texas Nerve and Spine's Brain to Body system, patients suffering from chronic pain and nerve disease build strength through rehabilitation. This advanced system helps:

  • Stimulate New Nerve Pathways
  • Strengthen and Grow Muscles
  • Promotes Cellular Repair
  • Improves Circulation and Blood Flow

Our Brain to Body System is central to our approach to chronic musculoskeletal pain relief and chronic nerve pain relief in Cinco Ranch, TX. By following the Brain to Body system, we can provide several services to patients suffering from chronic pain and nerve damage.

EWOT:Exercise with Oxygen Therapy

At Texas Nerve and Spine, our doctors use the NuStep Recumbent Cross Trainer to help achieve the aforementioned benefits. This specialized machine trains your muscles, brain, and nerves to work together, which supports your body's healing processes. PeripheralNeuropathy Rehabilitation

Peripheral neuropathy occurs when there is a lack of blood flow to the nerves in areas like your feet and hands. TherapySpinal Decompression Therapy

Spinal conditions range in severity from barely noticeable to absolutely crippling. To get to the bottom of your spine conditions, our team uses X-Rays to pinpoint the location of your spine's disease. From there, we craft a custom rehabilitation program that addresses the underlying causes of your spine pain. Often, part of that therapy includes spinal decompression.

Pain Specialist Cinco Ranch, TX

How Does Spinal Decompression Therapy Work?

Spinal decompression works by gently stretching the spine. When the spine is stretched, it changes its position. This change relieves pressure off the discs in your spine, which act as cushions in your back. By creating negative pressure, herniated and bulging discs retract, giving the nerves and structures in your back relief. This relief sends nutrient-rich fluids and oxygen to the discs in your back so they can heal properly.

CINCO RANCH, Texas — James Stone was doing what he does every morning -- walking his dog -- when he and his dog Bandit were approached by two pit bulls.

"I was almost home," Stone said.

A neighbor's surveillance cameras caught the incident on video. The two dogs charged and attacked Bandit -- and Stone stepped in.

"I thought for sure they were going to kill him, and so my instinct was to protect the dog," he said.

The attack lasted about a minute before Stone's 17-year-old daughter, Ava, heard the screams.

"Seeing your dad and your dog, who you had for your whole life, just on the floor screaming, is absolutely terrifying," Ava said.

She ran outside to help and even pulled one of the dogs off her father.

"Without her, I don't know what would have happened," Stone said.

Later that day, animal control picked up the two pit bulls, which were still roaming loose in the neighborhood.

Stone was left with a bruised rib along with several scratches and bites.

"I got more defensive wounds," he said.

Bandit got it worse.

"They got him pretty good," he said. "They were trying to get his neck."

Both are now recovering from their injuries.

"I can't get it out of my mind," Stone said.

The attack left a lasting impression on the father and daughter.

"How are we going to walk the dogs? Because I know I would be scared to and I can't imagine my dad," Ava said.

Dog experts said you can carry things with you to help prevent an attack.

For Stone, it's something he will continue thinking about.

"I will never walk my dog again without some sort of defensive, you know, whether it's (pepper spray) or a Taser or something," he said.

From now on, though, his morning walks won't be the same.

How to prevent an attack

Stacy Sibel, with Red Dog K9 obedience, behavior modification and sport dog training, provided these tips to help deter a dog from attacking.

If none of these work and the aggressive dog continues and gets ahold of your dog, do not panic. The worst thing people do is panic and start trying to pull them apart. You will cause far more damage and only make things worse. It’s unlikely any of the deterrents will work at this point, with the Taser being the exception. However, if a Taser is unavailable, then the best course of action is to cut off the attacking dog's air supply. A dog that cannot breathe will let go.

The Humane Society of the United States said to look out for some signs of aggressiveness in dogs. In general, they said, look for signs that your pup is becoming hyper-aware of another dog’s presence:

The main safety tip, if someone does come in contact with an aggressive or unknown dog, is not to approach or touch the animal. Mostly because we do not know the history of the dog. Also, do not run or turn your back.

For pets with aggressive animals, the HSUS recommends using positive reinforcement training. Click here for more information.

KATY, Texas (KTRK) -- A driver accused of hitting and killing 14-year-old Logan Dark as he rode a bike to school on Thursday has been identified, according to the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office.

Officials have arrested 20-year-old Devin Delvalle, who crashed into the young teen who was on his way to Cinco Ranch High School, where he was a student, according to the sheriff's office.

Logan was a rising football star at Cinco Ranch. His mom said it wasn't even about being the best. He just loved being a part of a team. His passions are clearly represented in the mementos dropped off at a memorial near the crash scene.

Many placed fishing poles in the ground to represent what Logan's parents say he loved most - reeling in a big one. But Dark's father said no matter how big the fish, he always released them back into the water.

The family wanted to mourn in private, away from ABC13's cameras.

The crash happened just after 6:45 a.m. in the 6000 block of Mason Road and Cinco Park, near Betty Sue Creech Elementary School.

When deputies arrived, it was learned that Delvalle fatally hit the student, who was reportedly in the crosswalk at the time of the crash. The sheriff's office said Delvalle stayed on the scene and cooperated with investigators.

Two good Samaritans were at the scene, tried to render aid and give CPR to the student, but he was pronounced dead, the sheriff's office said.

After further investigation, deputies arrested Delvalle and charged him with motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian or other vulnerable road user within the crosswalk area, the sheriff's office said.

"This is a very sad and tragic incident on both sides, for the driver, and especially for the victim's family," Fort Bend County Sheriff Eric Fagan said. "Drivers need to slow down and pay attention, and that's extremely important in areas that are heavily traveled by children."

Delvalle is facing charges under the new Lisa Torry Smith Act, commonly known as the "Crosswalk Law." It was named after a mother who was fatally hit by a driver in 2017 while walking her 6-year-old son to school in Missouri City.

Delvalle was nearly released from jail Friday morning, according to his attorney, Amanda Bolin.

"When my client's case was presented to the judge, I argued on his behalf that there was not sufficient evidence for probable cause for his arrest, and the judge agreed," Bolin said.

The Fort Bend District Attorney's Office said Delvalle never actually left the jailhouse, but he was in the process of being released.

"It happens. There probably could've been some more information given to him from the affidavit from the deputies when the arrest went through the night before," Alison Baimbridge, the chief of vehicular crimes division at the district attorney's office, said.

The district attorney's office said it presented the case to a different judge who re-charged Delvalle and put him back behind bars.

"We continued to gather evidence. We do it in every single case until the case is finished, and we let the evidence lead us to the proper conclusion," Baimbridge said.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott signed the act into law on June 18, 2021, and it went into effect in September. The law requires drivers to come to a full stop for any pedestrians or cyclists who are in an intersection.

According to Fagan, a vehicle's average speed to cause a pedestrian's death is 22 to 35 mph.

Delvalle's attorney feels like the arrest was rushed, and more evidence was needed.

The district attorney's office refutes that and said it already had evidence Delvalle did not attempt to stop, and he was also familiar with the area and the crosswalks' locations.

As of late Friday, Delvalle has been released on bond, according to his defense attorney.

The Cinco Ranch volleyball team was halfway through its undefeated District 19-6A championship when coach Danielle Wells revealed a project to Tammy Laurence, the only other coach in program history.

Laurence marveled at the season-by-season list, white paint on maroon reading the record and achievements of each year.

The Cougars are going to enjoy updating it when they return from Garland.

Cinco Ranch (37-5) competes in the Class 6A state semifinals against San Antonio Harlan (44-5) at 7 p.m. Friday at the Curtis Culwell Center. The winner plays Grand Oaks (48-1) or Prosper (37-9) for the championship at 5 p.m. Saturday.

The Cougars have finished among the final four twice, the first in 2009 during a 41-7 season directed by Laurence.

Wells and assistant coaches Stephanie Thapar, Sarah Jones and Melanie Burges join select company.

“It’s so amazing,” Wells said. “It’s literally every coach’s goal and dream to just go to state, so I’m excited. It’s been a goal of ours for sure. I know we had the capability to do it from the beginning of the season. It was just a matter of going and doing it, and playing together, and they did it.”

The Cougars have been one of the Houston area’s most consistent postseason teams, reaching at least the regional quarterfinals for the 11th time in 12 years.

All fell short of state, including last year’s loss to Tompkins in the Region III-6A final.

“It really bugged us,” Cinco Ranch senior Makenna Loo said. “It was very sad losing last year. It was really upsetting because we knew we could beat that team. We didn’t leave it all on the court and we knew it was comeback season and we wanted it really bad.”

The Cougars graduated senior leaders from a 29-13 season but returned an impressive group, many of whom have been on varsity for three years.

“I’ve been playing with four or five of them since my sophomore year,” senior Emily Killam said. “We knew what it felt like. My sophomore year, I don’t think we were expected to get past round one and we made it all the way to round three. My junior year, I didn’t think we’d make it as far as we did. This year, knowing we can make it that far and we’re a scrappy team, we knew what we wanted and where we wanted to go, and we executed. It’s just been amazing.”

The Cougars take a 21-match winning streak to Garland. All five of their defeats this season were in tournament play, which primarily include best-of-three matches.

They were 7-1 at the Katy ISD/Cy-Fair ISD Tournament before a 4-4 showing at Volleypalooza, which included an Aug. 26 loss to Harlan.

Cinco Ranch has not lost since, including a five-set victory against Tompkins early in 19-6A action. The Cougars won 48 of 54 district sets to take the No. 1 seed into the playoffs.

Many of their postseason runs have come with lower seeds, but the Cougars had no issue being the favorite.

“Everybody’s got pressure, especially when you’re playing your district opponent,” Wells said. “We talk about pressure all the time, but we also talk about how to perform under pressure and how to be mentally tough, how to stay together. When the wheels fall off we try to fix it, and they recognize that. That’s what’s so great about this group. They recognize it on their own. They don’t need the coaches and I to step in. They know it, they know what to do and it’s growth.”

Cinco Ranch trailed in sets during both Region III-6A Tournament matches, dropping the first against Dawson and district rival Seven Lakes. The Cougars had the experience to make adjustments and the depth to execute.

Martinez, the Cougars' top attacker with 4.1 kills per set, finished with 19 kills, 20 digs and two blocks against Seven Lakes in the regional final.

Shea Rainosek, who recently signed with Midwestern State, had a team-high 13 kills against Dawson, while Cinco Ranch had four attackers in double figures against the Spartans.

Blinn College signee Loo amassed 17 kills and 15 digs. St. Thomas signee Ariana Willis added 12 kills and two blocks and Killam added 10 kills and three blocks.

“Emily has definitely raised her play to another level these last few games,” Wells said. “A few weeks ago, I think it was before we went to the playoffs, I said some of you all have not hit your potential yet, and I know you can get there. She’s one of them. She’s been coming in strong and aggressive, and I love it. That’s what you’ve got to have in these tough games.”

Setter Kassidy O’Brien continues to distribute effectively, recording a season-high 53 assists against Seven Lakes. The Cougars also received 12 digs from Abby Borchardt, one off her season high, and 17 in both regional matches from libero Magdalene Finnegan.

The Cougars will need everyone against a strong state field, starting with Harlan. The Hawks have exceled in their sixth year of varsity play, winning 113 of 129 sets.

Harlan takes a 26-match winning streak to state, including a five-set Region IV-6A semifinal victory against Lake Travis. The Hawks swept defending state champion Dripping Springs in the final.

CINCO RANCH – A dermatologist in Fort Bend County says thieves stole copper wire from her business, not once, not twice, but three different times.

The incidents were caught on camera, and the owner of Cinco Ranch Dermatology says the entire situation has been very difficult and frustrating.

The electrical company hired to re-install the lines said copper can sell for thousands of dollars.

In a year and a half, Dr. Kelly Conner says she has dished out over $75,000 and believes her business is being targeted.

“This is our main hallway. You’re not exactly going to find any skin cancers in this light, right,” Dr. Conner said.

Dr. Conner is trying to figure out why thieves stole hundreds of feet of copper wire from her business.

“I just got the bill today and it’s $27,000,” she said. “We have 20 employees that had nothing to do today. We had over 80 patients that needed to be rescheduled.”

Back in February of 2021, surveillance video caught a person walking across the property on Westheimer Parkway in Katy.

“You can see him coming right up and opening the door,” she said.

Dr. Conner says they paid $25,000 to fix the problem.

“And then, we come back after the copper has been replaced and it was gone again within a week,” she said.

The same thing happened a third time Tuesday night.

“On the ring camera, we can see the guy jumping the fence and cutting the cords. In our neighbor’s building, we can see their white pickup truck around 4:30 in the morning. They just back up so they can have quick access to grab the copper,” Dr. Conner said.

Electricians say a pound of copper can sell for three to four dollars, which would make the heist worth a few thousand dollars.

Dr. Conner says the third time’s a charm, but hopes the thieves aren’t so lucky next time.

“You guys go get a job please,” she said.

Dr. Conner filed a report with the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office. She plans to increase security measures and hopes her business can open on Friday.
