Neuropathy Rehabilitation

Peripheral neuropathy occurs when there is a lack of blood flow to the nerves in areas like your feet and hands. When these nerves are devoid of blood, they begin to decay and degenerate because they don't have enough oxygen or nutrients. Eventually, the nerves in your body shrivel up, causing pain, numbness, balance problems, and other painful symptoms.

How Does Peripheral Neuropathy Rehabilitation Work?

Our Brain to Body program works wonders for neuropathy issues like these by using state-of-the-art technology like laser therapy and personalized, strategic plans of action created around our patient's needs. If you're looking for both short and long-term pain relief from peripheral neuropathy, this could be the solution you need.

Spinal Decompression Therapy

Spinal conditions range in severity from barely noticeable to absolutely crippling. To get to the bottom of your spine conditions, our team uses X-Rays to pinpoint the location of your spine's disease. From there, we craft a custom rehabilitation program that addresses the underlying causes of your spine pain. Often, part of that therapy includes spinal decompression.

How Does Spinal Decompression Therapy Work?

Spinal decompression works by gently stretching the spine. When the spine is stretched, it changes its position. This change relieves pressure off the discs in your spine, which act as cushions in your back. By creating negative pressure, herniated and bulging discs retract, giving the nerves and structures in your back relief. This relief sends nutrient-rich fluids and oxygen to the discs in your back so they can heal properly.

River Park’s latest restaurant is open for dinner.

Texas de Brazil Churrascaria Steakhouse has taken over the former Chevy’s Fresno Mex spot that closed in late 2016 — and it looks drastically different from its predecessor.

Texas de Brazil serves churrasco, meats that are slow roasted on skewers over an open flame that can be seen from the dining room.

Gauchos — waiters dressed as Brazilian cowboys in loose pants and thick leather belts — bring the skewers to the tables to cut individual portions. Customers pull the cuts off with tongs. When they want more meat they place a green card on the table. When they want to take a break from eating, they flip to the red side.

The restaurant usually has about 15 kinds of meat on the menu, with some rotating options. They include: picanha (top sirloin), garlic picanha, braised beef ribs, pork loin, Brazilian sausages, chicken breast wrapped in bacon, Alcatra (Portuguese pot roast), lamb chops, leg of lamb, Parmesan-crusted pork loin, filet mignon, bacon-wrapped filet mignon, barbecue pork ribs and Parmesan chicken drumettes.

General manager Jamie-Lee Slaten said the picanha is the star of the menu.

“It’s Brazil’s most famous cut, very tender,” she said. “It has a ring of fat around it, so it’s well flavored. It melts in your mouth. It’s wonderful.”

Gauchos also bring fried bananas to the table, which are used to cleanse the palate, along with mashed potatoes and Brazilian bread.

Texas de Brazil also has an upscale salad area that includes 50 options like sushi, cold cuts, couscous and the more traditional salad options. It includes at least five hot dishes, like lobster bisque, potatoes au gratin and feijoada, a Brazilian black bean stew.

“You can absolutely make a meal just on that alone,” Slaten said.

Full dinners cost $44.99, which includes the meat and the salad area. The salad area alone costs $24.99. There are discounts for children that vary according to age.

Drinks and desserts cost extra. The restaurant has more than 100 wines and its bar specializes in the Brazilian cocktail caipirinha. It’s made with limes, sugar and cachaça, a Brazilian spirit made from sugar cane.

People familiar with the old Chevy’s might be shocked when they walk in the door. Walls have been torn out and the building has been transformed into a modern upscale place that you might associate more with Las Vegas than Fresno.

Although the giant flower arrangements over the salad area are standard at every restaurant, Fresno is the first to get a curved ceiling full of little lights and unique hanging lights.

Fresno is Texas de Brazil’s 58th location nationwide, with seven others outside the U.S. The company is based in Texas, with its name designed to reflect a blend of Southern hospitality and Brazilian barbecue.

The restaurant is open only for dinner now, though it may add lunch service next year. It’s open 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays, 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturdays and 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sundays.

For reservations: (559) 899-1900.

A flock of spicy chicken restaurants has descended upon the city of Fresno.

The trendy restaurants have been here for a while, actually, and just keep growing in number. Two more eateries specializing in Nashville hot chicken are gearing up to open in the coming days.

One is in central Fresno and the other in north Fresno — and both specialize in the fried, crunchy, spicy chicken served with pickles and coleslaw.

The trend has roots at a Nashville restaurant. The legend goes that the restaurant owner cheated on his lover, who cooked up the spiciest chicken she could as revenge.

Instead of getting the message, he asked for more. The recipe eventually made its way to his restaurant.

Free food will be available at the grand opening of Al’s Hot Chicken on Saturday, March 25.

It’s at the northeast corner of Blackstone and Sierra avenues in the same center as the DMV.

It’s a franchise with seven other locations, most in the Los Angeles area.

The first 100 people in line at the 11 a.m. grand opening will get a free chicken slider. The first customer in line will receive a $50 gift card and the second through 10th customers will get a $25 gift card.

Al’s Hot Chicken serves chicken sandwiches, chicken and waffles, buckets of legs and thighs, tenders, and loaded fries.

Its spicy options range from country (with no spice) to “L.A.’s hottest,” measuring 2.2 million Scoville heat units (a common measurement of how spicy something is). You need to sign a waiver to order that one.

Al’s serves halal chicken, prepared in a way that’s allowed under Islamic dietary laws. The restaurant is in the same spot as Halaly Tacos, which closed during the pandemic.

Details: Al’s Hot Chicken is at 6460 N Blackstone Ave., #105. Hours: 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. 559-515-6933.

The next to open is Houston TX Hot Chicken, at Friant Road and Fresno Street, in the same shopping center as Trader Joe’s. It will hold its grand opening from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 1.

It also sells chicken sandwiches, chicken tenders and waffles, loaded fries and salads. The chicken is organic and free of antibiotics and hormones.

Often called HHC, its spice levels range from no spice and honey butter to “Houston we have a problem!” That clocks in at 2 million Scoville heat units.

And, yes, you have to sign a waiver for that one also.

HHC will give away free original hot chicken sandwiches at the grand opening.

The restaurant has 11 locations in five states.

Details: HHC is at 8482 N Friant Rd #107. Hours: 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays, and from 10:30 a.m. to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.

The arrival of the Fresno restaurants follows the opening of Dave’s Hot Chicken in Visalia on Friday, March 24.

That restaurant has a drive-thru and is at 3301 S. Mooney Blvd. in the Sequoia Mall Center. It has tenders, sliders and kale slaw.

It’s open 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays, and from 10:30 a.m. to midnight Fridays and Saturdays.

The new restaurants join an existing roster of chicken restaurants and food trucks opening in recent years, including Angry Chickz, Cheeks’ Chicken & Burgers, CHICK N’ BROS, The Chicken Shack, Fluckers, FURY Hot Chicken, Pacific Fried Chicken Company, Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers and Spicy Birdz. The Red Chickz Nashville Hot Chicken is also planning a location at the Marketplace at El Paseo.

The Texas Tech football program has agreed to a three-year series with Fresno State, one that will bring the Bulldogs to Lubbock twice.

The Texas Tech football program has agreed to take on one of the more dangerous non-Power 5 programs in the nation, Fresno State, for a three-game series. Tech will be in Fresno to begin the series in 2029 before hosting the Bulldogs in 2030 and 2032.

Currently members of the Mountain West Conference, the Bulldogs have become one of the best programs from a Group of 5 conference. However, they are a program in transition.

After three very successful seasons under former Cal head coach Jeff Tedford, the Bulldogs are now under the guidance of Kalen DeBoer, who was the offensive coordinator at Indiana in 2019. Despite going just 4-8 last fall, Tedford guided Fresno to a 26-14 overall record, appearances in the MWC Championship Game in both 2017 and 2018, and the 2018 MWC Conference Title in 2018. That season concluded with an impressive 31-20 victory over Arizona State in the Las Vegas Bowl.

Like so many teams from Group of 5 conferences, Fresno is always happy to tangle with Power 5 teams. In upcoming seasons, they are set to play at Colorado and Texas A&M (2020), at Oregon and at UCLA (2021), Oregon State and at USC (2022), at Purdue and at Arizona State (2023), at Michigan and at UCLA (2024).

More from Wreck'Em Red

Over the years, the Bulldogs have been known for knocking off some of the game’s top programs. In 2001, they won at Colorado, against No. 10 Oregon State, and at No. 23 Wisconsin climbing as high as No. 8 in the polls behind future No. 1 overall NFL Draft pick QB David Carr. They also own a win against USC, which came in the 1992 Freedom Bowl.

In 2004, Fresno took down No. 13 Kansas State on the road 45-21 in the second game of the season before ending the year with a victory over No. 18 Virginia in their bowl game. That year also saw them begin the season with a win at Washington.

As for the Red Raiders, they have their non-conference schedule filled out through the 2027 season. In every one of those years, Tech will be facing a team from a Group of 5 conference.

This fall, Tech is going to open the year at UTEP. In week three of the 2021 season, the Red Raiders will be taking on Houston on the road.

In 2022, Tech hosts Wyoming before a return trip to Laramie the following season. 2024 brings North Texas to Lubbock and in 2025, Tech will face Colorado State on the road in Fort Collins. Colorado State will be in Lubbock in 2026 and in 2027, the Red Raiders will take on North Texas in Denton.

Ashlye Robinson, who lives in the Houston area, says she was checking on squawking bird when the snake 'jumped' in.

FRESNO, Texas — Ashlye Robinson recently sent a wild video into KHOU 11 that shows her encounter with a snake at her Fresno home.

Robinson explains she kept hearing a bird squawking at her front door, and when she opened it, a snake fell in.

She says she thought the bird was making noise because her puppy was harassing it, but that wasn't the case.

"...no, it's not. A snake jumped — literally jumped in my door when I opened it, and it scared me so bad that I jumped back and closed the door," she says.

The video shows the snake, later realized to be a harmless, non-venomous rat snake, curled up in a corner near the door, next to a broom.

"My brain was just like run away," Robinson said.

Robinson says she was able to get the snake back outdoors on her own using a broom, which the snake tried to attack. She then called in a cruelty-free animal expert to remove the animal from her property.

"She was frantic," Jordyn Martinez said laughingly.

They are joking now, but in the heat of the moment the snake sacred Robinson half to death.

"I refused to turn my back on it because I have little kids and I knew if I turned my back on him, I'd probably never find him again in this house," she said.

Recently, snakes have been spotted in the strangest of places.

"I got up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom," Patty Tidwell said. "I opened my bathroom door and turned around and there was this big python on the back of my toilet."

From a West Texas bathroom to a bank off Highway 290 at Fairbanks where an AC repairman changing filters came face-to-face with a 6-foot rattlesnake, snakes have been active this summer.

"Had me pinned on one side and he was blocking me to get to my ladder," said Jesse with Kleen Air Services. "I called the bank and the bank called 911."

Back to Robinson and Martinez’s snake story.

"Maneuvered him to the front door," Robinson said. "Kept pushing him and kept pushing until he was out the front door. And he was like oh this is outside."

Martinez, a 17-year-old high school senior with a snake side hustle, relocated the rat snake.

"It was just snake show and tell," Martinez said.

"She was so gentle with him and totally calmed down the whole situation and she even had a little box for him," Robinson said.

"Where's the snake now?" asked KHOU 11’s Xavier Walton.

"State park," Martinez said.
