Neuropathy refers to a condition characterized by damage or dysfunction of the peripheral nerves, which are responsible for transmitting signals between the central nervous system (the brain and spinal cord) and the rest of the body. Neuropathy is caused by conditions including diabetes, infections, traumatic injuries, autoimmune diseases, and exposure to certain toxins. As a consequence of nerve damage, individuals with neuropathy often experience a range of symptoms such as pain, tingling, numbness, and weakness in the affected areas.

Neuropathy

Neuropathy is nerve damage that causes pain, numbness, and burning in the extremities. This is a type of condition that does not get better on its own and it doesn't alleviate after the use of traditional medical treatments or prescription pain meds.

Pain from neuropathy causes a domino effect; it starts with inflammation, leading to decreased blood supply. This reduction in blood supply results in a lack of oxygen. When your body doesn't get enough oxygen, it loses crucial nutrients that your body needs. This progressive effect often leads to long-term problems such as:

  • Chronic Pain
  • Motor-Function Loss
  • Loss of Sensation
  • Muscular Atrophy
  • Loss of Movement
  • Depression

But with our Brain to Body Strengthening System, patients suffering from neuropathy build strength through rehabilitation. This advanced system helps:

  • Stimulate New Nerve Pathways
  • Strengthen and Grow Muscles
  • Promote Cellular Repair
  • Improve Circulation and Blood Flow

Our Brain to Body System is central to our approach to neuropathy relief in Booth, TX. By following our system, we can provide several services to patients suffering from neuropathy.

Peripheral Neuropathy Rehabilitation

Neuropathy Pain Relief Treatments Booth, TX

Peripheral neuropathy occurs when there is a lack of blood flow to the nerves in areas like your feet and hands. When these nerves are devoid of blood, they begin to decay and degenerate because they don't have enough oxygen or nutrients. Eventually, the nerves in your body shrivel up, causing pain, numbness, balance problems, and other painful symptoms.

How Does Peripheral Neuropathy Rehabilitation Work?

Our Brain to Body program works wonders for neuropathy issues like these by using state-of-the-art technology like laser therapy and personalized, strategic plans of action created around our patient's needs. If you're looking for both short and long-term pain relief from peripheral neuropathy, this could be the solution you need.

Spinal Decompression Therapy

Spinal conditions that cause neuropathy range in severity from bearable to crippling. To get to the bottom of your spine conditions, our team uses X-Rays to pinpoint the location of your spine's disease. From there, we craft a custom rehabilitation program that addresses the underlying causes of your pain and neuropathy.

How Does Spinal Decompression Therapy Work?

Spinal decompression works by gently stretching the spine. When the spine is stretched, it changes its position. This change relieves pressure off the discs in your spine, which act as cushions in your back. By creating negative pressure, herniated and bulging discs retract, giving the nerves and structures in your back relief. This relief sends nutrient-rich fluids and oxygen to the discs so they can heal properly.

BELTON, TX — Justin Booth was only 16-years-old when his house caught fire, he was found passed out trying to save his grandfather inside the home as well.

His grandpa only had minor injuries but Booth suffered third-degree burns that put him in the hospital for nearly two weeks.

Booth came home Monday night to a very warm welcome from friends and family. They lined the streets outside, chanting his name with signs and balloons.

Grateful for the support, Booth thanks everyone who has helped him and his family so far.

"Thank you all so much it's going to help me and my grandpa tremendously and my hospital bills, it's been rough," Booth said.

All his friends knew he would be okay, it just took a lot of prayers and hope for a speedy recovery.

"He wasn’t gone but we weren’t able to communicate with him it was like we lost him but we didn’t at the same time," friend, Alexis Burgess said.

There's a lot of love for Booth and that isn't going away. His friends are here for him today because he is always there for them.

"He has helped me through stuff that I didn’t think I would make it through he’s just he’s a fighter," Cousin, Kaylenne Bunch said.

Booth is still in pain as a long road to recovery is ahead but with the few words of thanks he gave, he is happy to be alive.

"It is painful, but I'm glad to be here," Booth said.

There is still no determination on how the fire started. Justin's GoFundMe is still active for hospital bills and to rebuild a new home for him and his grandpa.

There will be a fundraiser for him on June 3rd for Bike Night at Bell County Motor Works from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

This year's Women Texas Film Festival, which opens Aug. 15 and runs through Aug. 18, will feature a kissing booth. Yes, a kissing booth — but not just any kissing booth. In keeping with the focus of the festival, this is a feminist kissing booth.

"It will be a kissing booth, but ... ," says festival official John Wildman, "the women that are there, and of course, there will be males [in the booth] as well, it will be their choice about who they kiss ... or who they don't."

In other words, if you're in line to be kissed, you could, well, be rejected.

But that won't prevent you from seeing some truly engaging films, one of which, Wildman says, is Make Out Party, whose screening will feature the kissing booth. Wildman describes this one, whose filmmaker is Emily Esperanza, as an outlandish, throw-everything-at-the-wall comedy that follows three characters who sashay through the city en route to a pin-up queen's make-out party.

That's just one entry in the fourth edition of a festival whose subtitle reads: "Leaders. Radicals. Storytellers."

The Women Texas Film Festival will showcase 17 feature-length films and 29 short films, the most ever screened in its showcase of films, each of which sports at least one of these distinctions — a female director, producer, writer, composer, editor or "DP" (director of photography).

"Even if the woman is in the producer position, it has to be a creative producer," Wildman says. "Like it can't be a thing where a woman's name is simply on it and then the rest of the team are males. The film has to have been generated from a distinctly female point of view."

Also under the heading of something new is the courting of a major sponsor, Methodist Dallas Medical Center, which will also screen some of the films. The Alamo Drafthouse in the Cedars is being used as another venue, but the vast majority of screenings will take place at the festival's home, the Texas Theatre in Oak Cliff, which opened in 1931.

And there's more. The 2019 edition leans in yet another interesting direction.

"We're doing a series of films that have either medical or psychological issues, such as bipolar disorder. And we're screening them at the Hitt Auditorium at Methodist Dallas," Wildman says.

"The Q-and-A's afterward will team up the filmmaker with a medical professional to talk about that aspect of the film as well."

Wildman is bullish on the fact that founder and artistic director Justina Walford chooses "to populate the festival, not with Norah Ephron romantic comedies, but with films that are eccentric, exciting ... even the documentaries are hard-hitting subjects that show that women are fantastic directors, even of these kinds of films."
